Gold Price Outlook 14–18 September 2026: XAUUSD Tests $4,330 Support Ahead of FOMC

XAUUSD Weekly Technical Review & Market Outlook | 14–18 September 2026

Gold enters the week of 14–18 September 2026 at an important technical area, with XAUUSD testing the key support around USD 4,330 following rejection from its recent high.

The daily chart shows signs of increasing bearish pressure, while the upcoming Federal Reserve FOMC interest-rate decision could become an important catalyst for the next significant movement in gold prices.

Technical Outlook: Bearish Pressure Emerging

Gold faced rejection at its recent high, forming a doji followed by a bearish candle. This price action suggests hesitation among buyers near the top, followed by increasing selling pressure.

The recent price structure has also formed a potential Head and Shoulders pattern near the upper area of the broader bullish flag structure.

However, the bearish pattern is not yet fully confirmed. The next confirmation will depend heavily on whether sellers can break the key support area around USD 4,330.

Key XAUUSD Support Levels

Gold has tested the USD 4,330 support several times, making this one of the most important technical levels to monitor during the coming week.

The key downside levels are:

USD 4,330 — Immediate key support

USD 4,229 — Next major support

USD 4,105 — Lower support

A confirmed daily close below USD 4,330 would strengthen the bearish scenario and could open the way towards USD 4,229.

If selling pressure continues and USD 4,229 fails to hold, attention could shift towards the next major support around USD 4,105.

On the other hand, if USD 4,330 continues to hold, gold could attempt another recovery. Therefore, traders and gold investors should watch for confirmation rather than assuming that the support will automatically break.

FOMC: Major Catalyst for Gold This Week

The U.S. Federal Reserve will hold its FOMC meeting on 15–16 September 2026, with the monetary-policy announcement scheduled for 2:00 a.m. Malaysia time on Thursday, 17 September. The September meeting is also associated with updated economic projections.

The interest-rate decision, policy statement, economic projections and forward guidance could generate significant volatility in XAUUSD.

Gold traders should therefore be prepared for potentially sharp movements around the announcement.

GS Gold Technical View

For the week ahead, USD 4,330 is the critical level to watch.

Bearish scenario: A confirmed daily close below USD 4,330 would increase the probability of further downside towards USD 4,229 and potentially USD 4,105.

Bullish/defensive scenario: If buyers continue defending USD 4,330 and price rejects the support strongly, the bearish Head and Shoulders scenario would require reassessment.

With the FOMC decision approaching, confirmation from price action remains important before determining the next major direction.
